– The lyrics are based on the premise that an experience, or an emotional event and connection, helps define place as much as the physical boundaries we relate to, explains Sjovaag:

– It could be a celebration of 50 years in an Irish pub in Oslo, which was written in Scotsman on Karl Johan, a fable about distance and closeness on the way home in rush hour traffic, and other small snippets of life. I want the stories to feel relevant, even to listeners from the outside.Jonas Sjovaag has 18 released albums behind him and plays with Eple Trio and Karl Seglem Acoustic Quartet. On his NYE skiv he has a stellar team of performers, among them Mats Eilertsen, Andreas Ulvo, Mathias Eick, Hans Martin Rundberg Austestad, Sarah-Jane Summers, Mattis Nikolai Myrland, Juhani Silvola and Embrik Snerte.

The result is ballad, with a crooner and vocal jazz expression.

One of the songs, ” In that Dark Night “, was released earlier this year as a single and was accompanied by a music video – directed by Sjovaag himself. The video was selected for screening during the Tokyo Lift-Off Film Festival, Madrid Indie Film Fest., Prague International Film Fest, 180 ‘ Berlin Film Festival and Budapest Movie Awards, where it received the award for Best Experimental Music Video.
