Carl Lee Perkins (April 9, 1932 — January 19, 1998) was an American singer, songwriter, and one of the founders of the rockabilly genre in the mid—1950s.

Perkins became famous for his rock and roll recordings for the Memphis studio Sun Records, the most famous of which is “Blue Suede Shoes” (1956). “Gone Gone Gone”, “Matchbox”, “Honey Don’t”, “Everybody’s Trying to Be My Baby”, “Glad All Over” were also recorded in the same genre. In the mid-1960s, Perkins turned to country music, with which, in fact, he began his career. The singer returned to rock and roll in the 1980s.
