Tim Allhoff is no stranger. In recent years he has established himself as one of the most important pianists on the German jazz scene. With his trio, the Augsburg native has already won two Echo Jazz Awards. Besides his career in jazz, he has also made a name for himself as a modern classical composer. In 2019 he was nominated for the German Music Author’s Prize alongside Hauschka and other greats of the genre, and Allhoff has even made it to Hollywood with his work on the soundtrack for the film “Sleepless” with Jamie FoxxOn his first piano solo album “Sixteen Pieces for Piano”, Allhoff also combines his two musical lines of development for the first time in a poetic and reduced work of art between the worlds. In the 16 character pieces, he skilfully alternates between jazz, classical and neoclassical music with beautiful atmospheric images. His compositions elude any comparison and remain uniquely eloquent in musical terms in the empty spaces of the description

His thirteen self-composed pieces are romantic, dreamy pieces, which are loose but coherent in their sequence. His pieces develop a minimalist yet captivating tenderness and are partly inspired by literary and fictional themes, such as “The Mother of Dragons” from the TV series “Game of Thrones”, the wise fox from “The Little Prince” or the novel “Elevation” by Stephen King. In addition, Allhoff presents his very own interpretations of Coldplay’s hit “Fix You”, a piece full of slowly grooving and hymnic melodies, but also more classical pieces such as Edward Elgar’s “Nimrod” and Krzysztof Penderecki’s “Aria”

“Sixteen Pieces for Piano” is an album for music lovers who like to have pictures painted in their heads by fine musical means, pictures that tell a story. For all those who love surprises and puzzles and would like to be captivated by an intense, modern lament.
