With an organic finesse, German singer-songwriter duo Mara & David melds rock drive with classical technique. After a period of personal struggle including an ongoing coming-to-terms with the duo s visual impairments the two musicians have found a new sense of urgency and joy on Call It Freedom.Mara and David met a few years ago at the Academy of Music ‘Carl Maria v. Weber’ in Dresden. David studied Guitar/Worldmusic there, with Thomas Fellow as his teacher, while Mara is still studying jazz/rock/pop voice in the class of Céline Rudolph. There was an musical instant connection, and with the combination of vocal artistry and filigree guitar technique this duo effortlessly crossed style borders to sing and play its way into listeners’ hearts: irresistible melodies, upbeat folk and pop-funk rhythms. Since then they started writing songs and playing together, the work is constantly growing more intense. For their third album, singer-songwriter duo Mara & David meld rock drive with classical technique.
