Music Kitchen was founded in 2005 by Kelly Hall-Tompkins as the first organization to bring top artists to perform in homeless shelters. In over 100 concerts featuring over 200 artists, including Emanuel Ax and Albrecht Mayer, the uplifting power of music has reached over 30,000 residents of homeless shelters between New York and Los Angeles. Since the series’ inception, listener contributions have been a profound source of inspiration and respect, culminating in a groundbreaking song cycle to celebrate the 15th anniversary. With the support of New York’s Carnegie Hall, “Forgotten Voices” was commissioned from 15 composers.
