They used to be the songs from Broadway, from the plays, from the musical comedies. And then the jazzmen would take these songs and interpret them and improvise over them with their own settings and add a saxophone and a trumpet and do a little arrangement there and deconstruct a bit there. Those songs are a part of our history and it’s important, but we like to configure our own standards.
