Pianist Emmi Karoliina Uimonen’s Emmi U. Trio plays the first gig of The Album Release Tour in tenho of their new album on the train.

The music is acoustic singer-songwriting Jazz Composed, Arranged and written by Uimonen for the piano trio, whose song lyrics include this moment and timelessness at the same time. Uimonen’s serene vocals build a bridge between the Finnish songwriting tradition, the spirit of left-wing songs of the 60s and 70s, and jazz, the genre that underpins the album. The music has strong influences from afro-American and Brazilian rhythm music as well as Finnish folk music. The songs on the album include the jagged beauty of humanity, the unanswered questions, the inviolability of self-determination and the yearning for an end to wars.

The arrangements of the songs have given space to the stories of the songs and, while respecting the values of jazz, to the improvisation and istrumental narration of each player, of which Uimonen has wanted to keep everyone equally important.
