Though almost unknown in their native United States, they are now universally celebrated as one of the standout funk bands of the 1970s and admired for their use of break beats.Originally from Long Island, groundbreaking funk outfit the Lafayette Afro Rock Band relocated to France in 1971 and as a result remained largely unknown to American audiences at the time, only to be discovered and recognized as pioneers by a new generation.
