Gene Autry’s career in the entertainment industry spanned more than 60 years. He had moved from being a radio and recording artist in 1928 to becoming a major motion picture star by 1940, starring in some 90 movies. Autry also had his own television program, became a broadcast executive, and even owned a major league baseball team. HIS GREATEST HITS documents America’s first and favorite singing cowboy.
